Crisis Management Exercise: Master’s Computer Science, track Chief information security officer / Pytharec

Students from the Master’s Computer Science, track Chief information security officer at ISTIC (University of Rennes), recently undertook a crisis management exercise in collaboration with Pytharec. The objective was to enhance their skills in quick decision-making and communication.

This exercise simulated crisis management during the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, aiming to prepare students for security and cybersecurity challenges.

Participants were divided into teams and tasked with collaborating to develop an effective action plan, incorporating aspects such as communication with stakeholders, preserving data integrity, and managing the repercussions on the reputation of various organisations in the face of the print media. Students had to demonstrate leadership, coordination, and responsiveness. The simulation highlighted the importance of internal and external communication in times of crisis, as well as the necessity of close collaboration among different departments and organisations to ensure the security of the Olympic Games.

This exercise provided participants (future CISOs, GRC consultants, etc.) with practical crisis management skills, thereby strengthening their preparedness to handle crisis situations in their future professional careers.
