CTF Cyberstorm: A Promising First Edition
This Saturday, 17 May, marked the inaugural edition of Cyberstorm, a Capture The Flag (CTF) competition organised by students from the CyberSchool consortium (ISTIC | University of Rennes).
A CTF Designed for Beginner and Intermediate Students
Cyberstorm brought together around sixty students who took on a series of technical challenges in the field of cybersecurity. Designed for beginner and intermediate profiles, the competition aimed above all to provide an accessible environment for learning, practising, and engaging with topics such as cryptography, forensics, and vulnerability analysis.
The focus was on education and collaboration: participants evolved in a friendly, supportive atmosphere, encouraging knowledge-sharing and collective progress.
A Great Success for an Ambitious Student Project
Cyberstorm was conceived and led by first-year Master’s students in Cybersecurity, Science of Software and Hardware Security, as part of their programme at ISTIC (University of Rennes) and within the CyberSchool consortium. A concrete educational project, supported by committed partners: EIT Digital, Spectro, CyberSchool, and its student union BDE Épicé.
The event was praised for its excellent organisation and the dedication of the volunteer team. The objective was clear: to offer a valuable first CTF experience, without pressure, and accessible to students curious about cybersecurity.
Congratulations to all participants for their commitment and sportsmanship! Special mention to the teams on the podium: n0_1d34, 418 I’m a teapot, and Blackcypher.
A big round of applause as well to the organisers for this promising first edition, which leaves us eager to see what comes next.
