CTF Hack’Lantique 2025: A Success for IMT Atlantique Students

On Saturday, 8 March, the Rennes campus hosted the fourth edition of CTF Hack’Lantique, a cybersecurity event organised by IMT Atlantique students as part of their third-year project.

A Challenge Successfully Met by 200 Participants

The CTF Hack’Lantique brought together 200 participants, divided into 40 teams, with competitors from 30 different schools and universities. Over six hours, teams tackled a series of challenges across various cybersecurity domains, ranging from OSINT and cryptography to reverse engineering and forensics. Their mission: to exploit IT vulnerabilities to uncover “flags.” This event provided an excellent training ground for students, from beginners to intermediate levels, allowing them to test and refine their technical skills in a stimulating and collaborative environment.

Winning Teams and Committed Partners

The event was a resounding success, supported by companies and partners of IMT Atlantique, including APIXIT, Orange Cyberdefense, the Commandement de la cyberdéfense (COMCYBER), Rennes Métropole, EDF, DGA, fenrir.pro, DGSE, the Pôle d’excellence cyber, and Airbus. CyberSchool, one of the Gold partner, also contributed to this educational CTF. Students also benefited from the guidance of IMT Atlantique’s research lecturers specialising in the “Cybersecurity” and “Digital Platforms” in-depth themes.

The winning team, “(HfMdfn)^5,” consisting of students from Université Bretagne Sud, ESNA de Bretagne, ENSIBS, and IMT Atlantique, won a Flipper Zero and five tickets to participate in BreizhCTF. The teams from Télécom Paris and ENSIBS secured second and third place, respectively. Additionally, mentors from APIXIT and Orange Cyberdefense awarded a “jury’s favourite” prize to a team they supported throughout the competition, highlighting the strong collaboration between students and industry professionals.
