Engineering programme, Digital Systems and Networks Degree Apprenticeship
The Engineering programme, Digital Systems and Networks Degree Apprenticeship is run by Esir (University of Rennes).
> Duration: 3 years, exclusively work-study
> Programme manager: Stéphane Avrillon
> Place: Rennes
Presentation
The Digital Systems and Networks specialty trains engineers in a wide range of skills in Digital Wireless Systems and Networks.
Starting in the second semester of the second year, students must choose a specialisation:
- The “Wireless Digital Systems” specialisation focuses more specifically on careers in the design and characterisation of high-frequency and embedded electronic systems.
- The “Virtualisation and Security” track focuses on careers related to the development of virtual networks to improve network efficiency and security, which are major challenges for many companies
Acquired skills
The skills targeted by the certification cover the fields of programming, electronics (embedded electronics, high-frequency electronics), network physical layers (codeing, modulation), networks (administration, supervision, multimedia networks), network virtualisation and network security.
This broad skill set enables graduates to meet the needs of companies of all sizes in sectors related to digital systems and networks: telecommunications operators, IT services companies (ESNs), cybersecurity, aerospace, and the electronics industry. It also equips graduates to support any company requiring IT and network services (metallurgy, food industry, retail, banking, insurance, energy, etc.).
Who can apply?
The Digital Systems and Networks Degree Apprenticeship is open to students with a two-year undergraduate qualification (Bac+2). Apprentices are mainly recruited from Higher Level Technical Programmes (STS):
- Advanced technician certificate (BTS) in:
- Digital Systems, Computers and Networks
- Electronics and Communications
- Technical Engineering Support
- Two-year technical diploma (DUT) or three-year undergraduate degree (BUT) in:
- Electrical Engineering and Industrial Computing (GEII)
- Networks and Telecommunications (R&T)
Work-study programme
The programme is delivered exclusively through work-study over three years.
The work-study programme is divided into approximately 4 weeks in-school / 4 weeks in-company during semesters 5-7. From semester 8 onwards, longer periods are spent in the company to enable the apprentice to gradually take on the duties required of an engineer directly in the field. The last semester is spent almost entirely in the company.
