On the first Thursday of every month, the CyberSchool organises a series of roundtables focused on various cybersecurity topics, called ‘Cyber Thursdays’. The goal is to gather expert insights to provide students with a granular view of the challenges, sectors, and professions in cybersecurity. This launch was met with great success and generated significant interest among participants.

A Rich and Diverse Programme

The topics for the evening included: Cybercrime; NIS2 – Essential and Important Entities (EE-EI); Cyber Resilience.

The speakers presented a variety of complementary themes:

  • Overview of threats, focus on anti-crime efforts and digital investigations by Colonel Florian Manet (Commandement du Ministère de l’intérieur dans le Cyberespace)
  • The role of legal services in the cyber protection of a multinational entity by Virginie Degot (Dassault Systems)
  • Strategies and deployment of defence in the energy and services sectors by Dominique Le Courtès (Equans France)
  • The role of the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), example of governance implementation in the agri-food sector by Lucie POIRAUD (Eurial)
  • Managing cyber risks linked to embedded technologies in vehicles by Gabriel Angot (Formind)

Constructive Discussions on Cybersecurity Challenges

In addition to the presentations, several points were frequently highlighted during the discussions:

  • Cybersecurity is not merely a technical subject; its implications extend across all sectors and professions.
  • Collaboration is essential. As Virginie Degot noted, “The vulnerability of one can be the vulnerability of another,” thus illustrating the importance of the NIS2 directive in strengthening collective resilience.
  • The protection and management of vulnerabilities are fundamental. Dominique Le Courtès reminded us that “Excellence is the keyword in the cyber professions.”
  • Curiosity, communication, awareness, a desire to inform oneself, and the ability to surpass oneself are all qualities highlighted by our experts as crucial for success in this sector.

A Promising Dynamic for Future Events

This first edition created a space for dialogue and reflection where students and experts could exchange views on the major challenges in cybersecurity. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our speakers for their expertise and commitment. A big thank you also goes to the students for their active participation, which greatly contributed to the success of the evening.

We look forward to the next Cyber Thursday for more enriching discussions!
