Inauguration of the Cyber Range at the Saint-Malo IUT
CyberSchool is proud to have contributed to the expansion of the Cyber Range at the Saint-Malo IUT, developed by DIATEAM, and inaugurated on October 2, 2024.
CyberSchool supports the IUT of Saint-Malo in strengthening its cybersecurity teaching capabilities. Since 2018, the IUT has been equipped with a Cyber Range, a digital infrastructure virtualisation platform developed by DIATEAM. Thanks to funding from the Brittany Region via CyberSchool, the capacity of this Cyber Range has been significantly increased for the 2024 academic year.
A major step forward in education
The Cyber Range is an advanced simulation platform that allows students to practise in highly realistic conditions. With this expansion, students from the BUT Réseaux & Télécommunications (cybersecurity track) at the IUT of Saint-Malo can now replicate complex attack scenarios and refine their skills in cyber defence. This new learning environment helps prepare future professionals to tackle the ever-evolving digital threats.
An inauguration attended by key figures
The event brought together several influential figures from the academic, industrial, and political sectors, including Jean-Pascal Gayant, Director of the Saint-Malo IUT; David Alis, President of the University of Rennes; Guillaume Prigent, President and co-founder of DIATEAM; Gilles Lurton, Mayor of Saint-Malo and President of Saint-Malo Agglomération; Jérôme Tré-Hardy, Regional Councillor for Digital Affairs, Cybersecurity, and Data, and President of Bretagne Cyber Alliance; Philippe Brugnot, Deputy Prefect of Saint-Malo; and Alain Terpant, Director General of Bretagne Développement Innovation.
Insightful discussions on cybersecurity training
The inauguration featured a round table moderated by Tiphaine Leduc, General Coordinator of Cyber Alliance. Alongside Guillaume Prigent (DIATEAM), Stéphanie Ledoux (Founder and CEO of Alcyconie), Glenn Rio (Technical Director of Orange Cyberdefense), and Marie-B Piel (Head of the Networks & Telecommunications Department at Saint-Malo IUT), Mathias Mahé, a work-study student at the Pôle d’Excellence Cyber and a member of the CyberSchool consortium, shared his experience. He explained his decision to specialise in cybersecurity and enrol in the Master’s Computer Science, track Chief information security officer at ISTIC, highlighting his interest in project management and client interactions.
A new dimension for cybersecurity training
Hands-on experience plays a crucial role in learning, underscoring the importance of this cutting-edge tool now available to students. The expansion of the Cyber Range represents a significant advancement in teaching methods, enabling an increasing number of students to train for the complex challenges of cybersecurity. In the long term, the aim is to open access to this tool to other programmes within the CyberSchool consortium, further enhancing synergy between the different courses.
