Presentation

The BUT Réseaux & Télécommunications programme trains specialists in the installation, administration, supervision, and security of computer networks and telecommunications networks.

From the second year onwards, students have the choice between several tracks, including the cybersecurity tracks, which teaches the design and implementation of cybersecurity policies in businesses.

The teaching is delivered by lecturers, researchers, and numerous professionals from the industry.

Who can apply ?

If you wish to apply for the BUT Réseaux & Télécommunications, you must hold a:

  • General Baccalaureate. The most suitable specialties are:
    • Mathematics
    • Digital and Computer Science
    • Physics chemistry
    • Engineering Science
  • STI2D Baccalaureate
  • CIEL Baccalaureate

The BUT is also open to students in their first year of higher education (bachelor, preparatory classes, first year of engineering school) wishing to reorient themselves, as well as to students in continuing education.

Internships & Work-study programme

The training programme combines theoretical teachings with practical application through:

  • Internships in companies or public institutions (in France or abroad) lasting:
    • 4 weeks in the first year (optional)
    • 8 to 12 weeks in the second year
  • A work-study programme available from the first year, alternating between periods of study at the IUT of Saint-Malo and periods of professional activities in a company.
    Students in the traditional programme have the option to switch to the work-study programme in the second year.
    The third year of the BUT programme is systematically conducted through work-study

Employment opportunities

Following the completion of the BUT Réseaux & Télécommunications, graduates can choose to continue their studies in engineering school or pursue a master’s degree.

Here are examples of engineering schools:

Students wishing to pursue a master’s degree in the field of cybersecurity can specifically apply for the Master’s Computer Science, track Chief information security officer at the University of Rennes.

On the other hand, students can also choose to enter the professional field as specialists in network & telecom professions, experts in cybersecurity. They can particularly join service companies and network equipment manufacturers, telecommunications operators and internet service providers, companies and administrations managing their own information and communication systems, telephone installers, service and engineering companies in information technology…
